MOEVY
Mo-Evy is a Modular EV Charging System designed to charge electric vehicles at Level 2 speeds and is meant for spaces where your EVs are parked for a few hours at a time such as home and office spaces. The modularity comes from the installation of only those modules that you want in the charger. The various modules allow for charging 3 vehicles at a time and includes LCD and wireless modules for connectivity to the internet and converting it into a IoT enabled charger.
Background and Field Research
Sales of EV has been increasing in India over the past few years and Electric three-wheelers dominate the EV market with more than 95% market share. While the overall percentage of Electric Vehicles in less than 1%, this number is expected to grow in coming years.
Fast Charging only for cars
Multiple private players have entered the field and established fast-charging stations across the country, but these serve as charging stations for cars alone
Unsafe charging conditions
In the absence of organized charging spaces for battery-operated vehicles like e-3W and e-rickshaws, many are charged in open spaces with open wires and unsafe conditions.
Rise in usage of electric shared mobility
Shared electric vehicles are being introduced in many cities in India and this will eventually lead to more adoption of private electric vehicles as people get used to the idea of electric vehicles
199 respondents to two online surveys on Parking Scenario and Ownership of vehicles. Interviews with owners of EV and prospective owners.

Concept Generation
For the ideation stage, inspiration was taken from many sources like Lego, LCD TVs, Machine guarding in industrial machines etc.
Form Generation
This was completely based on what would be a suitable design language for the given concept, electric vehicles which are futuristic and a clean design which is my personal liking.
CAD and Packaging of Internal Components
Internal components are based on the open source OpenEVSE concept and the component dimensions are sourced from their published documents and datasheets. These components along with their envelope dimensions and clearances are packaged in PTC creo.
Design of Stand
The stand was designed in 3 iterations of generative design in Fusion 360 for reducing the overall mass of the stand and to get a stand with better aesthetic finish. The generated models were refined and tested using FE analysis to remove any design failures resulting from unrefined models and random sharp edges.
